Library Services for Online Learning Students
Welcome to NSCC Library Services! We have a wealth of library services and resources to support you in your educational journey with NSCC.
Library Website
Visit our Library website and search our catalogue and databases, as well as explore resources in your program area through our subject guides. Our website also provides assistance on how to develop a bibliography, write a research paper search a database... and much more.
Library Catalogue
Use our WorldCat Local catalogue to locate books, music and videos. It searches our library holdings, as well as other libraries in Canada and worldwide.
Library Databases
Search our online databases to locate articles and/or journals/magazines relevant to your program area. Many of our databases will ask you to enter your NSCC student ID (your W number), and password. Others can be freely accessed. Review our off campus access information before searching our database collection.
E-Books
NSCC Libraries have E-books! Choose from an extensive selection in a variety of subject areas. They are available from a web-based platform so no readers or hardware is required. They can be searched in conjunction with some of our databases or stand alone, as well as downloaded to your portable device. To learn more about our e-book collection or assistance with the downloadability function, visit our E-book Subject Guide.
Live Help
From September to June, you can use the Novanet Live Help service. Live Help is an online chat-based reference service provided by Novanet libraries. It is designed to respond to brief questions that can be answered quickly and effectively using online resources.
Subject Guides
Whether you are just beginning research on a topic or are looking for specialized resources, browse NSCC's Subject Guides to assist you with your information needs.
Borrowing Services
If you live in Nova Scotia, you are encouraged to visit one of our 13 campus libraries across the province and register for library services. You will then be able to freely borrow materials from any Novanet library, either in person or through their document delivery service, Novanet Express. The library staff at your closest campus is also a very valuable resource.
If you live outside of Nova Scotia, register for library services at your nearest public or academic library. They will be able to provide materials to you, either through their own collections or interlibrary loan services.
Contact Us
If you live in Nova Scotia, contact the library staff at the campus located closest to where you live or visit one of our 13 campus libraries.
