NSCC students, faculty and staff can access NSCC's Interlibrary Loan service (ILL) if they are unable to locate print materials they need for research and study via the Novanet catalogue. This service obtains materials held in libraries that are located outside of the Novanet consortium. NSCC’s ILL service is only available to College students, faculty or staff and who have registered for a Novanet library membership. This service is not available to Off-Campus Borrowers.
Placing an ILL Request
NSCC students, faculty and staff are encouraged to search the Novanet catalogue and check if their materials are available at a participating library. If they are available, they can request these materials via Novanet Express. Requested materials are delivered to any Novanet library within 2-3 business days and at no charge.
If the material is not available in the Novanet
catalogue, students, faculty and staff may visit any NSCC
campus library and library staff will request materials on
interlibrary loan on their behalf. NSCC Library Services strives
to ensure materials are delivered as quickly and efficiently as
possible, often at no charge.
NSCC Library Services will email the borrower when their requested item has arrived for pickup and the campus library will hold it for 5 days. Loan periods for books are determined by the lending library and can range from 2 to 3 weeks. However, some loans may be renewable. Photocopies become the property of the borrower and do not have to be returned. All items are returned to the Campus Library where they were originally picked up.
Interlibrary loan requests will not be ordered for patrons who have overdue interlibrary loan materials or who have exceeded the maximum fine amount within the Novanet library system.
